Sports Medicine & Athletic Training

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Prepare for careers relating to sports medicine. This course is designed to provide students with an introduction in care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Learn the basic skills and fundamentals of sports medicine, including how to prevent athletic injury and increase athletic performance. Study body mechanics, nutritional guidelines for maximizing performance, protective sports equipment, taping and bracing, psychological aspects of competition, and training and conditioning techniques.

Certification: Students will have an opportunity to earn an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers card.

Prerequisites: Biology and Algebra are required. Anatomy/Physiology and Chemistry are recommended.
